Did you go through surgery to fix your dog's hip dysplasia?

My Bet Hound has hip dysplasia. My vet says she is the first Bet he's seen with it. She is now 3-4 years old and it has gotten increasingly worse. I feel that she is getting it worse than most dogs might, as she is supposed to support that large amount of weight on short stubby legs and can't always get up. I've been thinking about giving her surgery - either the triple pelvic osteotomy or femoral head excision. I cannot afford hip replacement, so that is out of the question. Has anyone gone through this disease with their dogs? What surgery did you choose for your dog? How did it go? Thanks!!
