How can Hillary be an effective Secy State?

In the Post-War era, ALL of the iconic and great Secy's of State were those that were seen by the rest of the world as being personally close to the President. Cordell Hull, John Foster Dulles, George Marshall, Dean Acheson, Dean Rusk, Henry Kissingerr, George Schultz, James Baker all fit this description. The Secy's who are considered by historians to be failures, were all former political riovals or relics from a bygone Presidency: William Rogers, Alexander Haig, Cyrus Vance, Warren Christopher, Colin Powell. If Hillary is chosen, she becomes an alternate center of gravity in our foreign relations. There may be a sense by our allies that she is really running things. ...a sort of an Andrei Gromyko. Why would Obi-wan do that to himself? Does he maybe realize that he needs adult guidance?
