Is it me or are my parents being too harsh?

for the longest time my parents have wanted me to join the military, and i went with it because i was a little kid and very impressionable. now i'm a sopre in high school and have different interests. i'm interested in becoming a pharmacist and i'm taking AP cles as well as extra science and math cles. my GPA is 3.7. i've told my parents my plan but they keep telling me that i still need to go into the military when i graduate. i just wanted a little support and i don't understand what their problem is. can some one give me advice on how to deal with this? are there any parents out there that would feel the same as them?
